Base 110 Hardtop Land Rover - 1989 V8 3.5L originally but converted following engine problems to diesel.

Galvanized Steel Roofrack - modified to suit purpose

Echo Roof tent - mounted on roofrack for front opening, giving space to the rear of the roofrack for sunbathing etc. Much the best way to tour as the rooftent is easy and quick to put up and down. It is 100% waterproof and has it's own mattress inside. All bedding stays inside when the tent is closed for travelling.    www.echo4x4.co.za

Caddy Storage Box - an ideal way to a.) rest your arm whilst driving. b.) secure valuables in a lockable box. c.) mount a stereo in a securable unit and d.) support your coffee cups whilst in motion. Twin Spare wheel carrier - self designed and built to high specification. Includes LED rear lights and integrated tow bar and Hi-Lift jacking points. Spare wheels lock in open position to keep them clear while parked up.

6 Military spec wheels - heavy duty tube wheels. Original Land Rover spec.

Snorkel - bespoke snorkel with air filter box mounted on the roof rack for less dust intake and easier removal/replacement.

Underside protection - steering protection guard

Heavy duty Suspension - original Land Rover upgraded suspension.

GKN Overdrive unit - the best investment added to the Land Rover. Fuel economy improvement and reduced engine wear during road driving. Also useable in Low Box to good effect. Operated from a small switch on the top of the gear stick. www.gknservice.co.uk

Airbag man rear suspension airbags - fitted inside rear springs to increase rating. Fully adjustable.   www.airbagman.com.au

Extension rear fuel tank - under rear right wing and filled through original filler. Made by Mantec. www.mantec.co.uk

Front under seat fuel tank with fuel switching valve - 45L tank filled through under seat box which was removed.

Poly Bush kit on front axle - red poly bushes on radius arms and chassis connection.

Spare fuel pump and spring  - attached to chassis under vehicle.

Military jerry can holders - taken from a retired military vehicle. 2 jerry cans carried each side with low C of G.

4 Jerry cans for fuel - standard metal containers.

2 Plastic Jerry cans for water - ex-german military plastic containers.

Hi-lift jack - not actually a Hi-Lift but looks identical. Perfect for all off road applications.

Shovel - military style small folding shovel ideal for off road use.

Hatchet - short handled axe for any wood cutting requirement.

Solar Panels - 16W solar system for keeping batteries topped up.

Engel Fridge - 32L fridge. Ideal for keeping food and beer cold. A must for any traveller. www.engelaustralia.com.au

Water pumping system - in tank 12V pump with switch and shower head.

Gas cooking system - CADAC single gas burner purchased in South Africa. Gas is different all around the world so cylinders cannot usually be filled in different country from purchase.

Ammunition boxes for storage - ex British military lever lid ammunition boxes. Ideal storage for spares etc. Cheap and strong.

Deep cycle batteries - 2x6V in series to give 12V output. Fridge and internal lights run of these batteries leaving main battery for engine starting only.

Dual charge system - National Luna control system. Makes sure all batteries are kept charged and also separate for engine starting. LED reading lets you know the status and batteries can be connected together manually. www.nationalluna.com

CB HF radio - used for convoy communication

Garmin GPS - Garmin 2Plus. Gives enough information without being fancy or looking too expensive on the dash. www.garmin.com

Sand ladders - 2x steel aircraft runway bridging ladders.

Inverter - 220V power inverter for running laptop and charging batteries etc.

Tools - full set of tools for all jobs on the Land Rover including specialist service tools.

Spare parts - spare parts to aid journey continuation in the event of a failure. All parts which can stop the vehicle physically driving are taken and replaced if used.  Examples include replacement alternator, fan belt, spark plug, coolant hoses.

First aid kit - extensive kit including anti-biotics, pain relief and needles etc.

Maps - paper maps for countries en-route.

Camera - essential for recording trip. Canon 20D with 28-135 IS Canon lense.

Laptop - HP Celeron powered laptop.

Guide books - necessary for local information when in country.

Rations - food for everyday use. Dried and tinned food. Some reserve food in case of emergency.
